This year, we’re delighted to welcome our partner festivals, including Mecal – Barcelona Int. Short Film & Animation Festival – who’ve programmed an evening of some outstanding contemporary Iberian animation. We’re also working with the Scottish Documentary Institute to screen some of the SDI’s favourite Scottish docs of recent years, while we’re providing a sample of international documentaries in our Short Docs night at the Filmhouse on November 6th. We’re also pleased to bring back our good friends at the Sardinia Film Festival, and looking forward to screening some of this year’s best Sardinian-made shorts at Summerhall.

Runaway Edinburgh Short Film Festival 2017

We’re holding the finale of our Script Pitch competition where the finalists will compete for tickets to the 2017 London Screenwriters Festival and on Saturday 11th November, there’s a free film funding workshop which will share insights into accessing funding for film projects, from our partners the Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund.

Aimed at Scottish-based film-makers, this event is unticketed so it’s first come, first served if you want a seat!

On top of all that, we’re planning lively networking events, Q & A sessions, there’s an awards ceremony on Nov 11th and we’re excited about our usual, infamous closing night party, featuring live music, visiting guests, a drinks reception and a chance to meet the team behind this year’s ESFF! Entry is via tickets for the closing night screening.

Tickets for all our events are now available online

The Festival will run from October 27th – November 11th 2016 at Summerhall Arts Centre and The Filmhouse.
