ESFF 2023 Programme Announced and Box Office open!

We’re excited to announce our 2023 programme!

The 13th edition of the Edinburgh Short Film Festival opens on Thursday 26th October and runs to Sunday 5th November, from Cannes winners to Clermont-Ferrand Winners and winners from a host of international film festivals, alongside the best Scottish and UK short films of 2023, we’re also hosting guest programmes from our international partner festivals.

OPEN SCREEN 2 at the ECVS: Filmmakers and Animators Unite!

Open Screen 2 is now closed for film registrations.

If you didn’t register your film in time, don’t worry, Open Screen 3 will return later in the year, so watch this space!

We’re delighted to announce OPEN SCREEN 2 which will take place at 7:30pm on Tuesday August 8th at the ECVS!

Open Screen is an occasional film event we’re undertaking in partnership with Clanimation and the Edinburgh Cine and Video Society.

ESFF at the Adriatic Film Festival

We’ve been honoured and privileged to participate in the Adriatic Film Festival’s International Showcase for the last few years and this year we were

delighted to screen a batch of Scottish shorts to Italian audiences, including; Unseen by Strath Martin, Journey by Sean Sevestre and Scuzz by Alia Ghafar in a

New ESFF Partnership with FICBUEU

We’re delighted to announce that we are planning a partnership with FICBUEU, the International Film Festival of Bueu, in Galicia which has been running since 2008.

FICBUEU have a special focus on Galician short film and 10 screening sessions, more than 100 international short films, round tables, talks, Galician cinema award, music, education and lots of activities.

Looking forward to working with them on programming so watch this space!

Screening the best in International contemporary short film & programming for other festivals across the UK & Internationally,
the ESFF is now open for submission for short film-makers!

We’re planning extra screenings and offering cash prizes and trophies

ESFF Joins the 6th Shortcutz Amsterdam International Audience Award

The Edinburgh Short Film Festival is excited to be participating in the 2023 Shortcutz Amsterdam International Audience Award.

The films in competition are nominated by a panel that includes Jan Harlan, the best Dutch short films of
