The November 2020 edition of Cinetopia Podcast reviews some of the films that made it to official selection for the 2020 edition of the Edinburgh Short Film Festival!

2020 ESFF Interviews #4 Paul Stekler

One of our guest curators for our 2019 edition was Paul Stekler, award-winning documentary filmmaker and head of the Doc school at the University of Texas film school.
 

Prof. Stekler’s films have won two Peabody Awards, three du Pont-Columbia University Journalism Awards, three Emmy Awards and a special jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival. He curated a night of Texan short films and talked to us about politics and filmmaking in a wide ranging interview.

The ESFF screens 16 nights of short film from Oct 22nd to Nov 8th 2020 at cinemas across Edinburgh,
featuring the best International, UK & Scottish short films.
Should circumstances change, our intention is to hold the screenings over the first available dates
around that period.

We’re awarding prizes for Best Film, Best Animation and Best Scottish Short Film.

we’re working with partner festivals to showcase our favourite shorts to audiences internationally,

2020 ESFF Filmmaker Interviews #3 Tom Gentle ‘In The Fall’

The third in our series of filmmaker interviews features Scottish filmmaker Tom Gentle, who’s powerful adaptation of Alistair Macleod’s short story was screened at the 2019 ESFF and won our award for Best Scottish Short Film.

Set in 1928 in the Scottish islands, In The Fall follows a young boy whose father is forced to sell the horse he loves, in order to survive. Powerful, intense and beautifully shot.

We’re excited to announce our new partners for 2020, Valdarno Cinema Film Festival.
In it’s 38th edition, Valdarno Cinema FF hosts 5 nights of cinema in San Giovanni Valdarno in Tuscany.
