The Edinburgh Short Film Festival opens again on October 26th and will once again screen superlative short films across the city this Autumn and it’s great to see that some very good comedies have made it onto the programme this year. We’re always pleased to light the mood on those dark November nights and we can certainly do that with these gems!

Our resident map-maker, the digitally-talented Justine Blair, has created a very lovely map detailing the locations of all of the films we are screening at this year’s Edinburgh Short Film Festival. Each of the films on our programme is pinpointed and colour-coded by the night they are being shown on. You can customise the map and find out more details about the films themselves by the simple expedient of clicking on the points and icons.

Last year’s ESFF included three open air screenings, six nights of British and International short film at venues across the city and an evening of short film roulette, deep underground in a basement in George Street.
The highlights were plentiful; Oscar-qualifying short ‘Butterflies’ directed by Isabella Peppard and produced by Warwick Burton delighted audiences with its fabulously dark and imaginative animation exploring the harsher realities of pursuing a creative path. The edgy, Belgian psychodrama ‘Naïve’ was […]

George explains how to maintain a good posture from following simple and affordable exercises that he gallantly demonstrates in the short. This man knows what he’s talking about; his own workouts on makeshift equipment appropriated from household objects got him to the 1948 Olympics. The short moves between live action […]
