Shore Scripts Competitions & Edinburgh Shorts

Our writer pals at Shore Scripts regularly offer some of the best film-related prizes around and this year they are putting up awards of between $9,000 –  $15,000 in production funding and equipment hire for the winning screenplay of their latest Short Film Fund competition!
The prize money will be aimed at turning the winning script into a completed short film and we’d be delighted to screen the winning film at next year’s ESFF!

Roberto Barrueco, Mecal’s Festival Director, curated a programme of some of Mecal’s favourite animated shorts at last year’s Edinburgh Short Film Festival, and we’re happy to reciprocate at this year’s event!

Edinburgh Short Film Festival Screens at Scot’s Day Out, Australia

Edinburgh Shorts working with The Short Film Show on Sky & Freeview

We’re delighted to have been asked to curate a short film strand on the Short Film Show, broadcast on Sky channel 212 or Freesat channel 161
at 10pm on Mondays!

Edinburgh Shorts gets animated at manipulate Festival 2018

Puppet Animation Scotland and the Edinburgh Short Film Festival created a new award in 2017 for Best Animation, to be presented annually at the Edinburgh Short Film Festival. The inaugural award, presented on the ESFF closing night on Saturday November 11th, was won by French animator, Chloe Lesueur for her extraordinary short film TIS.

We’re delighted that a couple of films screened at the 2017 Edinburgh Short Film Festival, animated short Fox and The Whale by Robin Joseph and the Kenyan-shot drama Watu Wote/All of Us by Katja Benrath by have been nominated for Oscars at this year’s Academy Awards!
