We’re excited to announce our 2023 programme!
The 13th edition of the Edinburgh Short Film Festival opens on Thursday 26th October and runs to Sunday 5th November, from Cannes winners to Clermont-Ferrand Winners and winners from a host of international film festivals, alongside the best Scottish and UK short films of 2023, we’re also hosting guest programmes from our international partner festivals.

A new venture we’re undertaking in partnership with Clanimation and the Edinburgh Cine and Video Society.
Open Screen provides a space for filmmakers and animators to screen their work; old, new or even just works in progress
and get feedback, advice and suggestions from other filmmakers/animators.
The first edition of Open Screen is dedicated to Animation.
The space is for experienced and new animators, beginners or groups and co-operatives.

Our friends at Cinetopia will be holding their open-air Cinema On The Shore event soon and we’re excited to be presenting
a programme of family-friendly shorts free at 1pm Sunday 18th September, with some of our animation award winners of recent years, including
the stunning stop-motion short ‘Muedra’ by Cesar Diaz Melendez and the wonderful 2D ‘Nigel’ by Natasza Cetner.
There’s pizza, refreshments and a whole weekend’s worth of finest deckchair cinema!
We’re excited to be presenting a programme of Scottish shorts at the 2022 edition of the Fastnet Film Festival in Ireland!
