The event runs from November 11th – November 22nd at Summerhall and the Cameo Cinema, highlights this year include the ESFF’s new, ongoing partnerships with the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival voted one of the world’s coolest film festivals AND with the Sardinia Film Festival!

From the Caribbean, we have offbeat, screwball zombie comedy from Guadaloupe, A harrowing and highly topical drama following migrants from Haiti, Jamaican drama ‘Gravediggers’ follows a couple of wannabe young gangsters and we have films exploring LGBT issues in Aruba and with films from Trinidad and Cuba, it’s fair to say, we’re on a whirlwind cinematic tour of the Caribbean!

‘Oh! My Princess’ from South Korea is a dark, neo-noir about a taxi-driver whose passenger threatens his daughter’s life and one that builds the tension expertly. Other films that caught the eye include ska/two-tone drama set in 1980’s Leicester,  ‘Beverley’ about a young black girl who falls in with some skinheads and their unsavoury associates..

Italian short ‘Gas Station’ follows the life of two muslim immigrants selling petrol on the outskirts of Rome and is both wry, funny and moving as well as featuring a great double-act!
