SOME UPDATES ABOUT OUR 2017/2018 TOURING PROGRAMME

The Edinburgh Short Film Festival always been very active about creating partnerships with film festivals across the world and we’re delighted at just how much our festival partnership projects have expanded in recent years!

Part of our ethos is to work as hard as we can to promote the excellent short films that we screen every year at the ESFF and the hugely creative film-makers behind them. We spend a lot of our time creating partnerships and screening opportunities to show off the best short films to our partner festivals across the globe.

Great news for travel-bug short films this year then, as we have at least 5 partnerships and a whole host of extra events lined up for this year’s best shorts:

EDINBURGH SHORTS VISITS THE SARDINIA FILM FESTIVAL

SARDINIA FILM FESTIVAL

SCREENING IN JUNE 2017 – DATE AND VENUE TBC

The Sardinian Film Festival clearly enjoyed our screening at the 2016 Sardinia Film Festival, so they’ve asked us to programme another night at their very busy venue in the lovely Sardinian town of Sassari,. The best bit is that the screening is held open air a la Cinema Paradiso under the lovely
star-lit skies of northern Sardinia!

The Festival has been running for 13 years, screens a week of short films, interviews, discussions, awards and competitions and is a warm, hospitable and friendly festival with a great team, who ensure the outdoor evening screenings go like clockwork! 13 years and it has never once rained on their film nights so our top tip …don’t open an umbrella shop in Sardinia!

EDINBURGH SHORT FILMS AT HIDDEN DOOR ARTS FESTIVAL

 HIDDEN DOOR  (EDINBURGH)

SCREENING:

SAT MAY 27TH – HIDDEN DOOR CINEMA SPACE, LEITH THEATRE

TUES MAY 30TH – HIDDEN DOOR CINEMA SPACE, LEITH THEATRE

SAT JUNE 3RD – HIDDEN DOOR CINEMA SPACE, LEITH THEATRE

We always very much enjoy working with Hidden Door, Edinburgh’s own, unique arts festival! Every year, the hyper-active, hyper-talented team at Hidden Door take over an abandoned building in central Edinburgh and turn it into an amazing wonderland of artistic endeavour that spans the disciplines from Film to Art to Dance. This year promises to be a bit special, as they are taking over the amazing, 1,500 capacity, Leith Theatre (pictured below!)

We’re programming 3 nights of short films for the 2017 Hidden Door in May. It’s hard to encapsulate the festival (or the venue) in a few words, my best shot would be Woodstock for artists!

FASTNET FILM FESTIVAL PARTNERS WITH EDINBURGH SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

FASTNET FILM FESTIVAL        (REP. OF IRELAND)

SCREENING THURSDAY MAY 25TH  SCHULL, COUNTY CORK, REP. OF IRELAND

We are also very lucky to have been asked to programme for the Fastnet Film Festival for their 2017 edition this May.  The Fastnet Film Festival takes place every year in the picturesque fishing village of Schull on the south-west coast of Ireland. They screen short films from all over the world and invite industry professionals to share their knowledge with visiting filmmakers.
There is no cinema in Schull so the whole village effectively becomes a cinema for the duration of the Fastnet Film Festival! A stroke of sheer genius on their part and an added bonus is that their patrons include Sir David Puttnam,Steve Coogan and Jim Sheridan.

Apart from all this we’re also holding additional film nights at the Grassmarket Community Cinema in Edinburgh’s Old Town, we’v e already programmed Scottish and Australian short film for Scot’s Day Out in Australia, we’re getting out and about this year for sure so watch this space, if short films can take holiday snaps, we’ll print them!
